SpiritPlay Drama Therapy
For people interested in moving their bodies, laughing, transforming negativity all while increasing their tolerance for their own strengths and weaknesses, and their capacity for intimacy.
Bored with talk therapy? Got it all figured out, but still stuck?
SpiritPlay is an active and rejuvenating individual or group process that combines movement and improvisation, inviting members to play together. SpiritPlay offers a new way to workout your body, mind and spirit. It invites people who work too hard to remember and relearn the value of playing and having fun. Sweat, laughter, and a feeling of deeper physical relaxation are guaranteed.
Through the Developmental Transformations method, SpiritPlay offers a fun-filled way to get un-stuck - in your career, relationships, within yourself. Playing is an excellent tool for releasing rigidity, promoting intimacy and spontaneity, and becoming more comfortable with yourself in your daily life. Created in 1988 as a drama therapy method, Developmental Transformations is currently being used in healing centers, treatment programs and schools around the country.

Individual
SpiritPlay is a revolutionary, amazing and intense way to work in individual or couples therapy.
Here is one client's testimonial:
"After years of talk therapy, I felt myself at home in this process. Each session was like a powerful dream, in which amazing things I had no idea were even going on would be revealed and played with. There they were . . . my patterns, revealed in the play! I didn't think that I could actually grow through so much laughter! And I loved being able to include my body and my creativity in therapy. I am used to being the student in the therapy, but playing with Blair made it more like she and I were in it together, and I grew to appreciate that so much."
--H.S. Guidance counselor, NYC, 35 years old
Individual and couples work begins with 4-20 sessions of talk therapy, dedicated to sharing the client's story with the therapist, so that the therapist has the client's story available to them as material for play. Once the details of the story are complete, SpiritPlay sessions begin, with client and therapist engaging in improvised play. No agenda is planned for each session. Talking occurs mostly before and then within the play, not after each session.
