Museletter #19: Love Yourself in 2010
January, 2010
It's here! Can you feel it? Everyone I encounter seems to be riding a wave of positive potential as the new decade rolls in. A dark and difficult time could be behind us, and new possibilities await. People are getting ready for something good.
Whether you feel it or not, whether you've set goals or intentions or not, I want to wish you a Happy New Year, and bring your attention to the little tag line I include at the end of each article and muse-letter, a lofty goal for any decade, year, week, day, moment: Love Yourself, no matter what.
I invite you, alongside your other goals, to practice transforming this abstract, new-age suggestion into personal experience. It seems evident that cultivating a deep a sense of personal regard, trust in and genuine affection for You, provides an excellent baseline for whatever choices you make. You may or may not lose the weight, get the job, stick to your exercise goals, meditate, make the extra bundle or successfully re-create the romance in your relationship; but if you can find ways to remember that you are essentially lovable, does it really matter?
I don't mean to minimize the importance of our life and health goals, but rather, point to the literal "heart" of the matter. I also want to remind you to distinguish helpful enthusiasm from the annual and binding pressure we may feel to revamp our entire persona.
So, here's to pleasure, power and freedom in 2010 and the decade beyond. . .
And remember: Love Yourself no matter what.
